The ORB - Connecting The C+E to the Cosmos

A unique immersive art and music installation is coming to The Culture + Entertainment District as part of Chinook Blast, Calgary’s premiere winter festival celebration.

The ORB is an intergalactic radio broadcasting across all dimensions of space and time, pumping earth music skywards and receiving sounds of the cosmos in return. Reaching to the furthest edges of the galaxy and into the heart of The C+E, The ORB creates a dance party under the stars, connecting us all through the universal rhythms of music and light.

Created by local artists Kyle Jensen and Paul Magnuson of B!G ART, The ORB is a custom metal sphere that spans 10’ in diameter and hangs 25’ in the air.  It is covered with over 15,000 individually mapped LED pixels and has been programmed with a synchronized light and music show. The effect is a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience sure to capture the attention of anyone that comes upon its marvelous presence, and likely, anyone or anything else that may be listening.

Acting as a giant disco ball, The ORB is popping up for 3 days only from February 10 - 12 from 4 - 10:30pm at Enoch Park. EAST Team and the Victoria Park BIA will be on location with hot chocolate and firepits nightly from 5-8pm, along with eye-catching, roving performers from the Little Red Ball Company.

Come let loose and dance the night away with us, earthlings!

When: February 10 – 12, 4 – 10:30pm
